The gardens:
A beautiful aspect of the site, Rashleigh's 4.5 acres
of tended gardens retain many of their original trees
and features. Three of the original ponds still exist,
some with fountains, koi karp and water lillies. Each
sits within its own small garden with flowers or seats.
Notable trees that are still thriving include two mature
Japanese acers, a selection of cedars and conifers and
of course the large copper beech on the main lawn. The
yew hedges lining the driveway are estimated to be at
least 80 years old.
The old apple orchard next to the tennis court forms a
picturesque arch way with eating varieties on one side
and cookers on the other. You can taste the delicious
fruit in some of the puddings prepared by our chef. The
trees still retain their metal tags with their names,
Bramleys, King of the Pippins, Laxton Superb, Lane's Prince
Albert, Newton Wonder, Norfolk Royal and Allington Pippin.
Rashleighs peaceful grounds provide the ideal place to
escape, walk or gather informally.
